Why there's nothing quite like solo raving
Human beings often struggle to be in social spaces on their own. Making connections with strangers can be intimidating and anxiety-inducing at the best of times. Solo raving can be challenging, but also offers the opportunity for personal growth.
Of course, safety is paramount, especially for women. Always ensure you’re able to reach out for help if you get into difficulty. Be sure to let friends and family know where you are and contact staff if you feel unsafe. However, for some people, partying alone is their preferred way of going out. Here are a few reasons why it can be so enjoyable...
TOTAL FREEDOM
On most nights out with friends you’ll all need to make democratic decisions about what everyone is doing, which might not always be what you want, deep down. Raving alone means you can dance to whichever DJ takes your fancy, have some time out, or even go home whenever you want to. Dancing alone is also a very liberating experience.
BUILDS CONFIDENCE
Whether you befriend a group of strangers or not, simply dancing alone in a crowd of people can be great for building confidence. Learning that you don’t always need to be with other people to enjoy the club experience is very useful for cultivating inner courage.
BE WHOEVER YOU WANT YOU TO BE
Adopting a different persona is another benefit of solo raving. With friends you might always fall into a particular role, but on your own you may find yourself expressing a part of your identity that you’ve suppressed.
LEARN MORE ABOUT YOURSELF
When you’re spending time alone in a familiar space, without others, you can learn more about yourself. All humans have a need to want to fit in and can sideline or mould themselves to be part of the crowd. When you’re riding solo, who knows what you might find out about yourself without the need to conform?
