Why raving makes us feel free
Everyone should give raving a go, at least once in their life. One of the cornerstones of the culture, from day one, has been the sense of freedom people feel when they’re raving.
From feeling less judged, and being able to express yourself, to simply being away from the trappings of everyday life, being knee deep in the rave can often be liberating. Here’s why it makes us feel free…
STIMULATES HAPPY HORMONES
When you’re dancing to music, socialising and in a space where there are less stringent rules and regulations, your happy hormones start to flow. Dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin and endorphins combine to bring about a feeling of freedom and happiness.
SELF-EXPRESSION
From how you dress, to the way you dance and interact with people (or not), you can express yourself freely in the dance and this is vital to feeling liberated. The best raves are safe spaces where you can be whoever you want to be.
LESS SOCIAL PRESSURE
In most social settings, you can feel obliged or pressured to communicate with others. On the dance floor you can close your eyes and dance the night away without ever feeling the need to speak to anyone. For some of you, this can be a very freeing experience.
MUSIC CAN FACILITATE ESCAPISM
Simply being in a club can be enough to create a feeling of escape for a lot of you. Add the exhilarating power of music into the mix and the shackles of life fall to the wayside. A sense of freedom can occur as you’re transported to another dimension through the multitude of frequencies coming from the speaker stacks.
