Why hydration is a raver's superpower
Water is undoubtedly the elixir of life. Without it, there would be no life on this planet. The human body is made up of around 55 - 60% water, so it’s essential that you stay hydrated.
Many of the body’s functions are reliant on water, especially the internal pathways that remove toxins and the very cells at the core of our physical being. Hydration (using water and electrolytes) is a raver’s superpower, and here’s why…
KEEPS JOINTS LUBRICATED
If you’ve suffering with stiff aching joints, you won’t be able to enjoy the dance floor. Putting your hands in the air, jumping up and down, two-stepping, running around with your friends getting up to mischief… lubricated joints are essential to optimising your physical abilities.
COGNITION & MOOD
Dehydration impacts mood and memory. A positive attitude has a wide ranging influence on your enjoyment of the rave, so make sure you’re drinking lots of healthy fluids, as they help to stabilise your mood.
ENERGY
If you’re not getting enough water into your body, your heart has to work harder to do its job. The repercussions of this are feeling tired and sluggish. If you want to make it through to the afters, consider your liquid intake as a key ally in your mission to stay the distance.
CELL REGENERATION
Hydration is intrinsic to the body’s cellular function. Our cells use water (hydrogen) to regenerate and eliminate free radicals, a type of cellular waste that causes oxidative stress, ageing and degenerative diseases. Our cells also need electrolytes (sodium and potassium), to power up too.
TOXIN ELIMINATION
When you’re knee deep in the rave and perhaps ingesting substances, it’s important to support the body with clearing out toxins. Hydration is absolutely key to this. Not only does water alone help to eliminate toxins, but the electrolytes replace lost minerals that are essential to bodily functions.
