Why distractions lessen your rave experience
You know how it can be sometimes. You’re knee deep in dance floor antics, when suddenly half of your crew vacate to go and smoke. That sudden shift in energy can have a negative impact on your experience.
In today’s world there are a myriad distractions to take our focus off what we’re doing - even in the heaving mass of a dance floor. Here’s why these distractions can lessen your rave experience…
A DISTURBANCE IN THE FORCE
When your mind gets distracted while raving, your energy is less focused too. This focus is essential to immersing yourself in the rave and experiencing its healing benefits.
IT’S ALL ABOUT BEING IN THE MOMENT
Sure your mind may wander naturally while you’re pogo-ing in the middle of a rave scrum, but being on your phone, for example, takes you out of the moment. When you’re lost in the moment, that’s where the magic happens.
THE POWER OF COLLECTIVE EGO
We find purpose in collective participation, think playing sports, or being a supporter, the energy of being at a concert with thousands of fans and… raves. Disconnecting from the crowd and the music prevents that positive transcendence of the self.
DISTRACTIONS FRAGMENT THE DANCE FLOOR
When everyone is dancing as one, it creates a very unique communal cohesion. Breaking off in groups to go to the smoking area, or just standing there gossiping with your mate, fragments this special energy, leaving the dance floor disjointed.
YOU LOSE YOUR CONNECTION TO THE MUSIC
Being in a rave is all about connecting with the DJ and the music they’re playing. DJ sets are far more enjoyable when you commit to them from start to end. Getting distracted takes you away from the core aspect of the rave.
