How to level up your post-rave routine
You know how it is post-rave: you feel beaten up, spaced out and often in need of some TLC. Coming back to reality after a heavy night (or several nights) can be very harsh.
For those of you who really get amongst it at the weekends, establishing a routine to wind down, decompress and give yourself a soft landing is essential. If you want to level up your post-rave routine, here are some expert tips…
REUP YOUR VITS & MINERALS
One of your first steps should be to reup on all the good stuff you’ve lost over the duration of your partying (sadly brain cells aren’t so easy to replace). Some ravers vouch for NAC (n-acetyl cysteine), others like magnesium or potassium, while adaptogens like ashwagandha are also high on the list.
HAVE A SHOWER
Not only will a shower rid you of the rave grot you accumulate (sweat, dirt, odours) but it will also help to reinvigorate you. Consider a cold or cool shower to give your circulation a boost, helping the detoxification process.
GO TO A SAUNA
If you have the energy, a visit to the sauna will reap many benefits. Your circulation increases to produce sweat, which results in more effective excretion throughout the body. It’s also great for muscle recovery and facilitates easy and deeper sleep. Don’t forget to hydrate while you’re sauna-ing.
CONNECT WITH NATURE
Get yourself out to a park or woodland, if you have anything close by. The experience is sure to be grounding. Alternatively, watch a nature documentary (David Attenborough is the post-rave saint) and alleviate your mind with the spellbinding world of Mother Nature.
HYDRATE
Drink plenty of water, but also add in electrolytes when you’re in the post-rave phase. Stock up on electrolyte powders, or food and drink such as miso soup, coconut water and watermelon to help revive your wartorn body. If you can stomach food, something easy and full of goodness like a pho or ramen works a treat.
