5 ways to save money when you're raving
It’s tough times for a lot of us. Prices are going up everywhere, but wages don’t seem to be catching up. This means less disposable income, and less opportunities to go out and make the most of life.
Tickets to raves - festivals especially - can be very costly. And that’s before you’ve even considered travel, drinks and everything else that complements a party experience. So, how can you save while you rave? Read on for some tips…
PRELOAD FOOD & DRINK
A universal means to keep costs down, pre-drinking is not only a great way to avoid paying over the odds for your drinks, but it also gets everyone in party mode before you’ve even stepped foot in the rave. Also make sure you get some carbs, healthy fats and sugars into a good meal before you go out, to make sure you don’t splurge on a load of fast food after the event.
TAXI SHARE
If you live somewhere that doesn’t have reliable public transport, then organise getting a cab to (and from) the party with your crew and split the cost. Late-night cabs are especially pricey, so this will help save you from being stung.
BUY TICKETS EARLY
Set up Google alerts, or stay vigilant on social media, so you can grab Early Bird tickets or pre-sales as soon as they’re released. The savings you’ll make are well worth the effort.
SUPPORT SMALLER CLUBS & EVENTS
Often the major clubs and festivals charge a premium due to the huge lineups they book. The trickle down effect of big name bookings is usually felt in the pockets of ravers. But smaller events generally have lower overheads, meaning you can have a more economically sound night out.
CONSIDER A SOBER NIGHT
How about cutting out the booze and chemicals altogether? This is an easy way to make a saving and experience raving in a more conscious way. If not 100% sober, then alternate water with alcoholic drinks to keep costs down.
