5 secrets of the party pro lifestyle (with Manda Moor)
Travelling can take its toll on your mind and body. Suffering from sleep deprivation and hectic plane travel, layered with loneliness and post-party depression, is tough.
With releases on @jamiejonesmusic’s’ @hot_creations and her own label with @sirushood @moodchild.art, DJ/producer @mandamoor has picked up gigs all over the world. From Bangkok to Miami, Ibiza to Serbia, she’s travelled extensively. Here are her self-care tips for when you’re on the road…
TRAVEL WITH YOUR FRIENDS
First of all, having company will make your whole experience a lot better. Those people will also be your rock and help you stay grounded. It’s very important to share moments with people you love, when possible.
PARTY WISELY
Choose wisely when you decide to full-party. Travelling and the lack of sleep take their toll on your body and its natural rhythms and cycles. Add partying to that and it’s a recipe for disaster. If you want to party, make sure you do it consciously. Sometimes it’s best not to party at all. Think about your body as a temple and respect yourself more.
BALANCE IS KEY
Establish balance in everything that you do. If your weekends away consist of bad sleep, poor diet and no exercise, then eat healthy, sleep a lot and work out during the week. It can be hard, especially during the summer, when weekends turn into a whole week, but do your best to counterbalance what is not healthy.
OPTIMISE YOUR TIME ON THE ROAD
Allocate your travelling time wisely and effectively. For example, when you’re at the hotel, rest as much as you can, because that’s the only time when you can actually recuperate. This could also mean leaving the party early. Put your health first.
A SPECIAL TECHNIQUE FOR RESTING
It’s important to have some form of sleep, even if it’s a very light sleep. Here’s a technique from a military friend: Lie on the bed and put your two legs up against the wall. Turn off all the lights and cross your hands on your chest. Breathe deeply and try to think of nothing for 10 minutes. Very useful. Try it out.
