5 ways to prepare your body for a party
If you really want to make the most of the weekend’s antics, consider putting your energy into preparation. Raving can be gruelling, putting pressure on your body and mind over a long period of time. Staying up all night dancing and getting intoxicated is akin to a sport, especially if you’re out most weekends.
Athletes need to train and prepare themselves for their chosen sport, so why not adopt a similar mindset to give yourself a solid foundation for having an even more enriching time? Besides the obvious benefits of regular exercise, here are some other ideas for preparing yourself ahead of a rave.
REST
Conserving your energy pre-rave will provide better endurance and overall stamina. The disco nap, which we’ve covered before, is a key asset before you embark on a weekend marathon.
HYDRATE
Whatever you consume, be it booze or other substances, will toxify your body. H2O keeps you hydrated and assists with detoxification. Uncaffeinated herbal teas also work a treat.
STRETCH
No matter how old you are, your muscles can benefit greatly from a good stretch. Any number of yoga/sporting stretches can aid blood flow to the muscles and tendons, warming them up for a good dance floor workout.
EAT CLEAN
We hear this a lot, “eat clean”. Essentially it means avoid fatty and sugary foods, which will bog your digestion down. Instead opt for raw fruit and veg to fill you with healthy vitamins and nutrients, ensuring your body is functioning at its optimum.
VITAMINS
Boost your immune system and general health by adding supplements to your daily diet. Vitamin C for immunity support and magnesium for all round physical health are a good place to start.
