5 tips for surviving a day rave
It’s summer: time to hit a few day parties and dance in the sunshine. Hundreds of day raves appear on the party calendar offering you the chance to crack on earlier than usual and (maybe) get home at a decent time.
As fun as they are, day raves can be so different to night events, and come with their own challenges and difficulties. Here are five tips for surviving them…
HYDRATE HYDRATE HYDRATE
This is Rule No.1. Whatever you’re ingesting or inhaling, be conscious of keeping yourself hydrated. Drinking enough water is even more pertinent if you’re out in the sun all day, so do not forget to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
LOOK AT THE WEATHER
Check the weather forecast and use it to plan what to bring with you. Do you need a poncho in case it rains? Or extra suncream? This can make the difference between getting soaked, or sunburnt, and having the time of your life.
PACE YOURSELF
There’s something about being outdoors, especially in the sun, that triggers a need to go ham on the drinks, and whatever else. Avoid getting over excited and peaking too early by remembering to take it steady and you’ll get the best out of your day.
CHOOSE YOUR OUTFIT WISELY
You’ll want to ensure you’re looking your best while basking in the glorious sunshine, but consider something comfortable and practical as well. Boring as it may sound, if you find that your impractical outfit (e.g. a skimpy outfit that leaves you freezing cold when night falls, or an impossibly tight catsuit) is impacting your enjoyment of the rave, you’ll be kicking yourself.
TAKE REGULAR BREAKS
If you’re going for it all day long in the blazing sun, you could end up getting seriously exhausted. One of the best things about partying in the daytime is that you can stop and chill, especially if the sun is out. Be kind to yourself.
