4 secrets to a long-lasting rave career (with Cinthie)
For a lot of ravers out there, the party lifestyle has a shelf life. But, for some there’s a desire to keep going and have something that’s long lasting.
@cinthie_dj has been touring for 25 years, playing her first gig 27 years ago. As well as running record shop @elevate.berlin, two labels - 803 Crystal Grooves, @we_r_house - and being a mother, Cinthie is still on the road and busier than ever. Here’s her advice on how to have a long-lasting rave career…
KNOW YOUR LIMITS
We all have an idea about how close to the edge we can go. If not, try to be conscious about your behaviour and take note of when you feel like you’re hitting your limit. Knowing your limits is really important if you want to have a sustainable rave career because you can be more considerate about your activity.
THINK CAREFULLY ABOUT YOUR FUTURE
When you're in your twenties you feel like you can party for three days and you’ll be fine, which is usually true. But consider how it will be in the future and how your mind and body will react as you get older. Longer-term thinking can lead to healthier decisions that will aid longevity.
MAKE TIME FOR EXERCISE
Perhaps the most important tip of all. Exercise is critical to maintaining a sustainable and enjoyable rave career. Ensuring your body (and mind) are in optimum health, or at least healthy enough to keep you going as you get older, is central to a long lasting party life.
HAVE CONSCIOUS BREAKS
Sometimes it's good to deny yourself something and abstain for the greater good. Things can start to feel samey when you’re partying week in, week out. Listen to your body, and take breaks so that you can recuperate and be full of energy and motivation when you come back to the dance floor.
